Is Cynthia McKinney the new Nader?

While most of the "spoiler" coverage in the 2008 election is focussed on consumer advocate, Ralph Nader, Former US Congresswoman, Cynthia McKinney, has been quietly building a movement to become the Green Party's national candidate in 2008.

McKinney, who served 6 terms for a district in Atlanta, is running for President on a peace platform, and is seeking ballot access as the candidate for the Green Party in 2008.

The Greens currently have the power to nominate a presidential candidate in 16 states, including Oregon, Florida, and California.

McKinney could be a factor in the General Election, particularly if Hillary Clinton wins the Democratic nomination. Some analysts have suggested that African American voters may toward McKinney in response to negative campaigning by the Clinton's against Illinois Senator Barack Obama.
