Oregon House passes electronic voter registrationOn Thursday, the Oregon House passed a bill to allow citizens to register to vote online. If the bill passes in the Senate and is signed into law, Oregon will join California and Washington as the third state on the west coast to permit electronic voter registration. Delaware and Arizona also allow online voter registration. HB 2386, which was carried by Rep. Ben Cannon, passed with bi-partisan majorities in the house, and with the support of good government groups including the Independent Party of Oregon. "This idea has been adopted with great success in Washington and California. It makes it easier for younger people and folks who are overseas to register to vote in Oregon," said the party's Secretary, Sal Peralta. "We are glad to see the bill move in the house and strongly encourage swift passage in the Senate."
