In support of Arlington's first female mayor

From the Op-Ed section of today's Oregonian...

Arlington Mayor, Carmen Kontur-Gronquist, has taken a lot of heat since photos of her in her undies appeared on MySpace.....The fuddy-duddies who have demanded her ouster have done far more to damage their city's image than their mayor's well-sculpted body

We agree. But why didn't any of the news media that covered this show Ms Grondquist in a non-racy photo? The "offending photo", pictured on the right is the only one we could find via google.

Kudos to Ms Kontur-Grondquist for staying in shape, and for being a strong independent woman who helps us to remember the importance of good physical health and a strong self-image.

Arlington's Mayor

I think there's nothing wrong what she does on her on time. that her business. let her run for president. she would probably be better than than the one that's going to be elected. Love to have a autographed picture from here on the fire truck. If she she would send one. Mark

In Support of Arlington's Mayor

Dear Carmen,
This voice of support comes from the 1st female mayor in Womelsdorf,Pa and Ms.Pennsylvania 1987 bodybuilding champion. I own a fitness center in the borough and was single when I was elected. Strength of mind & body is necessary to achieve the physical attributes you diplay in the "only" photo that seems to be available. You must certainly have displayed similar strength of character while in office. Jealousy is usually the reason attacks like the one you were victim to come about. What was to be gained by driving you from your office and drawing this negative attention to a small town in OR? Instead you are to be commended on your dicipline to stay in shape. Run for a higher office! Blessings of health!

In support of Arlington's first female mayor....

I was shocked to hear that these pictures were considered "racy", especially after finding out you spent a few years in a bikini as a lifeguard in your small town.

Clearly the point here was to find an excuse to remove you from office. This is a good indication to me you were doing your job well, as a true city servant will do what is right and often come under fire for it.

You will REMAIN Arlington's Mayor to many intelligent Americans, and I hope you continue to fight undaunted, for what is right in your town.

Incidently, I think you look great, and I find your pictures to be in very good taste.

To the constituents that recalled you; congratulations on making your town look like a township focused on petty squabbles and personal agendas.

With Sincerity, JT
